Welcome to Creative Cacti and Succulents, a Chico, California-based producer of exotic, low maintenance, and drought resistant living works of art.

Owner and lead designer Claude Geffray has traveled a long way from his birthplace in Normandy, France to live and work in Chico. Claude’s interest in succulents began in his early twenties when he purchased his first succulent plant at a flea market in San Francisco. These uniquely shaped and textured plants caught Claude’s attention as he was a student in art and ceramics at the time and has an great appreciation for design. Claude was fascinated by the variety and geometries of these plants and so his collection grew steadily over the years.

When Claude made the move from the San Francisco Bay Area to Chico in 1985, his plants made the move with him. Three years later Claude started a small specialty nursery called Geffray’s Gardens. Over a few years, Geffrays Gardens developed into a premier retail and wholesale provider of cacti and succulents for interiorscapes, landscapes, and specialized xeriscapes gardens for the Northern California region. Geffray’s Gardens plants are available for purchase to the public in Chico, CA at Thursday and Saturday farmers markets (insert link to the farmer’s market sites). The nursery is also open to the public on Saturdaysor by appointment during the week.

Through the years, many clients have requested Claude’s assistance to help them create custom landscapes and container creations. This inspired Claude to launch Creative Cacti and Succulents. The new business is a perfect opportunity for Claude to exercise his artistic talents and knowledge of growing succulents and cacti in the Northern California environment to create one-of-a-kind living art designs.
